Four Ways to improve your driving habits

Bad driving habits can make the roads a more dangerous place for everyone. Not only are you putting yourself at risk, but you are also endangering the lives of other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

Driving without a license is also a bad habit; if you are looking to get a driving license, you should know about the G1 test. The G1 test is a written road rules and road signs test that is required to get your G2 license.

Here are four ways to improve your driving habits and make the roads a safer place for everyone.

1. Put down your phone

Texting, emailing, and even talking on the phone are all distractions that can take your attention away from the road. If you must use your phone while driving, pull over to a safe location first. If you can, put your phone on silent or vibrate so you’re not tempted to look at it while driving.

• It’s illegal.

If you live in a state that has laws against texting while driving, then you’re already breaking the law by picking up your phone while behind the wheel. In some states, you can be pulled over and ticketed for texting, even if you’re not doing anything else wrong. It’s not worth the risk of getting a ticket or getting into an accident.

• It’s a distraction.

We’ve all heard the statistics about how dangerous distracted driving is, and yet we continue to do it. Every day, people are killed or seriously injured in car accidents because they were texting, talking on the phone, or fiddling with the radio. It’s time to put our phones down and focus on the task at hand: driving.

• It’s dangerous.

This one is pretty self-explanatory. When you’re on the phone, you’re not paying attention to the road. You’re not watching for pedestrians, other cars, or animals. You’re not paying attention to your speed, or the weather conditions. You’re not paying attention to anything except the person on the other end of the line. And that’s a recipe for disaster.

• It sets a bad example.

If you have kids, you’re setting a bad example for them if you’re on the phone while you’re driving. You’re teaching them that it’s okay to text and drive, or to talk on the phone and drive. You’re teaching them that it’s okay to be distracted while behind the wheel. And that’s not a lesson you want them to learn.

2. Follow the speed limit

Following the speed limit is not only a good way to avoid getting speeding tickets, but it is also a good way to improve your driving habits. Driving too fast is one of the leading causes of car accidents, so by following the speed limit, you can help to keep yourself and others safe on the road.

In addition to being a safer driver, following the speed limit can also help you to save money on fuel costs. The faster you drive, the more fuel your car will consume. So, if you want to save money and be more eco-friendly, following the speed limit is a good way to do both.

Of course, there are times when you may need to drive faster than the speed limit. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to speed up, always make sure to do so safely. Avoid tailgating and weaving in and out of traffic, and only go as fast as you feel comfortable driving.

By following the speed limit and driving safely, you can help to make the roads a safer place for everyone. So, next time you get behind the wheel, remember to drive safely and within the posted speed limit.

3. Don’t tailgate

Tailgating, or following too closely behind the car in front of you, is not only rude, but it’s also dangerous. If the car in front of you has to stop suddenly, you could rear-end them, causing a serious accident. Instead, give yourself plenty of space between yourself and the car in front of you.

4. Use your turn signals

Turn signals are there for a reason – to let other drivers know what you’re planning to do. Use them every time you change lanes or turn. Not only is it the law, but it can help prevent accidents.

These four are the top concern of the authorities, if you can get yourself to get rid of these habits, you will make the driving experience safer not only for you but also the one’s around you.
