A Lamborghini owner accidentally reversed his car into a lake in Austria after “mixing up the brake and accelerator pedals.” The 31-year-old man was driving through the town of Mondsee when the incident happened.
The man luckily managed to get out of the Lamborghini Huracán alive and swim to the shore as his car sank 50 feet deep into the water. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Fire crews, a tow truck and a crane were sent to the scene of the accident to recover the luxury car.
Photos of the vehicle being pulled out of the water as fire crews and the emergency services stood near the lake.
It took three hours to remove Huracán from the lake, officials said.
The police who were also called to investigate the incident said that the driver had dropped off someone and was in the process of turning around when the accident took place, Daily Mail reported.
A spokesman for the force said the driver was turning the car around next to the lake and must have “mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals and drove backwards into the Mondsee.”
Last year, an 18-year-old driver crashed his Audi into the front porch of a house after colliding with another car and drove off with the front door wedged on its windshield. The incident was reported from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire in the UK.
The driver fled the accident scene taking the door with him. He was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive due to drinking or drugs. He was later was taken to the hospital with head injuries but was not thought to have been hurt seriously.
