I will vote against NPP for banning musicians from advertising alcohol and betting companies – Wendy Shay

Popular Ghanaian songstress, Wendy Shay has vowed to give her vote to any political party that will allow musicians to advertise for betting and alcohol companies.

Her strong and emotional comment come months after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) banned musicians from advertising betting and alcohol companies.

Earlier this year, rules were implemented in the system, banning celebrities with followers from endorsing any betting or alcoholic company with the reason being that these followers following the celebrities are looking up to them and might copy blindly if they engage themselves in anything that looks immoral.

Since the ban was formalized, Wendy Shay, who looks like the only artist that has been greatly affected has lamented on it severally on all her online portals.

She has again taken to her Twitter page to rant, saying this time around that she wouldn’t want to vote for NPP again so that they will prevent her and colleagues from doing their jobs.

Wendy Shay scripted that any party that will see off this ban will have her vote.

She added that musicians are not supposed to be poor but in Ghana, it’s a different issue.

Below is what she wrote;

Musicians are not supposed to be poor
But in this country if God does not step in you’ll die poor
Now we can’t even get Alcohol and Betting companies to sponsor our shows
2024 my vote will be for any party that will lift that Ban! “
